Clothing and Comfort

The last thing you want to experience in a long haul flight is discomfort. You don’t want to be thinking about how itchy your tight jeans are.
This is why you should plan ahead on what to wear. Avoid clothing that are tight, rather go for loose-fitting clothes that look nice (you don’t have to sacrifice looking good because of a long flight). Also get a cardigan and a scarf for the cold on board.
Entertainment

Staying in long haul flights can be extremely boring. It’s not a 45minute or an hour flight where you can manage without any form of entertainment.
Some flights have their own forms of entertainment, like a movie but it’s advisable to always come prepared just in case.
This is why you need to bring forms of entertainment with you. These could be your phone, tablet/ipad, ipod/music player, game, laptop, books/magazines, and whatever thing you consider as a form of entertainment.
Remember, whatever device you bring, make sure they are charged and you have with you a powerbank.
Another thing you can do to kill time is to make conversation with someone on the same flight, preferably your seat partner. Not only are conversations with random people great and insightful, they could help you save up batteries too 😉 Just make sure they don’t mind because you don’t want to be that annoying seatmate.
Foods and Drinks

On a long haul flight, it’s important you pay attention to what you eat and drink. If you know there are certain foods your body can’t tolerate especially on a long flight, it’s best to avoid them.
Avoid eating heavy meals and fatty foods as they could cause heartburn/indigestion. Don’t take gassy foods such as beans, onions and so on to avoid being bloated and passing gas. You don’t want to make people uncomfortable. Also avoid taking caffiene, except you really don’t want to sleep.
Make sure you are well hydrated. Drink enough water and limit your alcohol intake.
Self-care

When on a long flight, your skin tends to be dry and dehydrated. This is due to the low cabin humidity. With that in mind, you would have to come along with face and body moisturizer, lip balm, wipes, sanitizer (very important) and whatever you think you will need (keyword is need). Simply make sure they are about 3 – 4 ounces and placed in a ziplock bag.
Finally, come along with change of clothes, a deodorant and/ body spray to feel fresh and smell nice also.
Sleep Sleep

Try to sleep while on a long flight. Take a travel neck pillow and a sleeping mask along with you. Also, avoid putting luggage underneath your seat so you can get all the leg space available to you.
Here are other things to take note of when going on a long haul;
- Make sure you pre-book your seat so that you can get a comfortable and preferred seat
- When there’s a long layover, make use of the lounges in the airport. If there’s a space to freshen up in the airport, like a bathroom, take advantage of it too
- You can stretch your legs by moving around on the flight
- If you have work to do, a long flight is a good place to get it done
