Today, I wanted to talk about implied meaning and how people don’t take responsibility for them because it was never spoken. This was as a result of an argument that happened between my brother and I this morning.
However, by evening, another thing happened and that’s what I want to talk about. Maybe I’ll talk about the implied meaning thing tomorrow but I hope the first paragraph gives you an idea of what I mean.
So this evening, I was thinking about a lot of things, friendships, work, family, basically life generally and here’s one thing I would like you to know; everything is not about you.
Things are happening and it seems like life is against you? It’s not about you.
Your friends are doing this or that? It’s not about you.
You were not included in so so so? It’s really not about you.
We have to recognize that several things are not about us. It’s not your fault that someone didn’t trust you enough; it’s not your fault that someone you care about is going through something and you don’t know how to help them with, it’s not about you. Life doesn’t revolve around you and that means you shouldn’t blame yourself unnecessarily or get mad at things unnecessarily or feel entitled unnecessarily.
I wish I could add more context to what I’m trying to say but it’s very personal and even I am still trying to figure it out. Some things are hard to admit, even to ourselves. I think that is what’s happening right now with me.
I hope you were able to pick a thing or two from the lesson today.
